Me as an errands boy but managing director.

Hi there.

My name is Andrew Sikudhani, I run a small business in Kilifi and I have an interesting story that I would love to share. And because the internet doesn't forget ( unless forced to😀) I would like to remember this a few years to come.

Let me first tell you about my business( I have to, I mean...🤷‍♂️) Okay, just follow me.
So, if you have realized, I know you have...on my LinkedIn profile, I am the managing director of Merime Solutions. Now, I am not diverting. What do we do? First, our heart is to micro and small enterprises. We would love to see them have simple but crucial solutions that they need in order to thrive.
So, we provide basic solutions like
  • Website design, redesign and development,
  • Website maintenance,
  • Domain name registration,
  • Web hosting,
  • Email creation and configuration
  • Development of systems,
  • Selling of third party systems (POS, hotel management)
  • Software installation and configuration
  • Business Training
  • Accounting services
  • Payroll services and
  • We have a workspace.

All of this in Kilifi Town. Can you imagine that? Sasa watu wa Kilifi changamkeni.

Yoh! Yoh! This post wasn't about my business but my story. I just thought you should know what I do.

Alright, back to the story. So, being a managing director of a start-up, I am basically the errands boy! 🤣 Sounds funny for a managing director. I run around from office to office to look for business, I stop random people to give them our posters and explain what we do. I run around to pay bills and collect documents or make this application and that other one.

When people meet me in Kilifi, I am mostly equipped with my business posters and sometimes when I hand them my card, they can't believe I am a "managing director".... they see a salesperson and office messenger. Well that too, I am, haha! And I love it by the way.
My shoes get so dusty for walking too much and sometimes people give me looks by the way. And that's okay. I come up with all the content I post on social media and I have to share to all groups. This is not an easy job. I take care of our customers at the workspace whenever I am in the office. And I prefer to sit at the reception desk, not the "manager's" seat.

Now look at me, am I still a managing director? Well, I really manage the direction of my company through all that. Don't be confused, I have a small team of 6 people, 5 are programmers and the other helps with accounting. In most cases, they focus on their work and me mine.

I think for us who are starting, we just have to do this. If you're starting a business, please don't feel ashamed to do everything even the smallest of things. Run those errands, go from office to office and get those small deals. (My first deal was Kes. 2,500 by the way) and the motivation that brought me- you have no idea. Keep at it. Let them look at you as if you're mad. I think some people see me as such😅bora unipe hiyo biashara mimi. Just give me the business. Abbi!😅

And those that meet us and we give them business cards they look at and wonder. Please know that this is our start, we are at it, this grinding. We are looking for that money and want to earn it. Hear that? EARN IT.

Sasa nyinyi wakubwa mtuone mtupe kazi...bila kuitisha commission lakini...

And I know one day when I don't have to walk around giving posters, I will understand what my junior employees go through.

I just wanted to put this out here so someone like me will be encouraged and keep doing it. This is the best way to grow and get up there.

Alright, that's my story but please call me for that Website or system or if you need an accounting or payroll system. We will train you too, or just walk into our office and find a desk to work. Support us nanii!😊😊

Tells of the best of Women

Our very first Date I have known this woman for the past 7 years, I have dated her for the past two years and I have been married to her for the past one year, four months and thirteen day, ( don't be fooled, I sort the help of a calculator and minutes of thinking) If you would like to meet an incredible woman, you should absolutely meet her. If you want to meet a smart and beautiful woman, you need to meet my wife. If you want to meet a flawed woman, damn right, you should look for her. If you want to meet a loyal and loving woman, my Eve should be your next meet. Every additional year she gets becomes first a gracious gift to me then to her. Don't get me wrong, it's just that she takes care of me more than she takes care of herself. This is her second birthday we are celebrating in Kilifi. The first was just a week after we had moved here from Nairobi. We just had a small "Fayaz" cake (I didn't even put a sad face, it was a terrible cake) with our very

The Rogue man!

Rogue is definitely the right word to use here. First, because this story should have been written six months ago. Today is right to write¹ nevertheless, the "rogueness'"  (You know what? I can be sorry to English later) continued. I think I am just rogue. Absolutely abnormal in my own terms. Today, we got back from the church as usual. My man started the disturbance spree right from church. He didn't wanna sleep, murmurs, screams, squishes, joyful and sad sounds. That's B for you when he wants. He slept for a bit but woke up once we got to the house. My week was long. I traveled to Nairobi on Wednesday and didn't sleep or rest. Went for an event on Thursday and traveled back that same evening. I got to Mtwapa on Friday, rested for a few hours, and went to Kilifi. Merime ( www.merimespace.co.ke ) needed me. It's been a week! I am still tired by the way and all I wanted after church was to sleep. It's not that obvious or easy these days. The Man B is

Story za Ulezi

I honestly struggled to get here and start typing. What is this dopamine that comes with scrolling? Is it the right or left brain whatever that produces it? I need to meet it and rebuke it in the name of Jesus! Weuh! Stealer of time! Crusher of writing dreams! Postponer of sleep. Shindwe kabisa (should be defeated completely)... Well, you know I had to mention why I got late to write. Scrolling! Puh!  Today was pretty interesting. I was reminded of a few years back when I was angry at an absent and passive father. Contexts can be long so I won't give it. My colleagues and I discussed something very interesting over lunch. It started with my colleague revealing that she was writing a paper on the effects of parenting styles on teens. I jumped to ask her to include youth and adults. Well, we all know how the parenting we received messed some of us up - big time.  I thought I had gone through hell. I think hers was a hell of 7 times more than the fire Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednego
