Me as an errands boy but managing director.

Hi there.

My name is Andrew Sikudhani, I run a small business in Kilifi and I have an interesting story that I would love to share. And because the internet doesn't forget ( unless forced to😀) I would like to remember this a few years to come.

Let me first tell you about my business( I have to, I mean...🤷‍♂️) Okay, just follow me.
So, if you have realized, I know you have...on my LinkedIn profile, I am the managing director of Merime Solutions. Now, I am not diverting. What do we do? First, our heart is to micro and small enterprises. We would love to see them have simple but crucial solutions that they need in order to thrive.
So, we provide basic solutions like
  • Website design, redesign and development,
  • Website maintenance,
  • Domain name registration,
  • Web hosting,
  • Email creation and configuration
  • Development of systems,
  • Selling of third party systems (POS, hotel management)
  • Software installation and configuration
  • Business Training
  • Accounting services
  • Payroll services and
  • We have a workspace.

All of this in Kilifi Town. Can you imagine that? Sasa watu wa Kilifi changamkeni.

Yoh! Yoh! This post wasn't about my business but my story. I just thought you should know what I do.

Alright, back to the story. So, being a managing director of a start-up, I am basically the errands boy! 🤣 Sounds funny for a managing director. I run around from office to office to look for business, I stop random people to give them our posters and explain what we do. I run around to pay bills and collect documents or make this application and that other one.

When people meet me in Kilifi, I am mostly equipped with my business posters and sometimes when I hand them my card, they can't believe I am a "managing director".... they see a salesperson and office messenger. Well that too, I am, haha! And I love it by the way.
My shoes get so dusty for walking too much and sometimes people give me looks by the way. And that's okay. I come up with all the content I post on social media and I have to share to all groups. This is not an easy job. I take care of our customers at the workspace whenever I am in the office. And I prefer to sit at the reception desk, not the "manager's" seat.

Now look at me, am I still a managing director? Well, I really manage the direction of my company through all that. Don't be confused, I have a small team of 6 people, 5 are programmers and the other helps with accounting. In most cases, they focus on their work and me mine.

I think for us who are starting, we just have to do this. If you're starting a business, please don't feel ashamed to do everything even the smallest of things. Run those errands, go from office to office and get those small deals. (My first deal was Kes. 2,500 by the way) and the motivation that brought me- you have no idea. Keep at it. Let them look at you as if you're mad. I think some people see me as such😅bora unipe hiyo biashara mimi. Just give me the business. Abbi!😅

And those that meet us and we give them business cards they look at and wonder. Please know that this is our start, we are at it, this grinding. We are looking for that money and want to earn it. Hear that? EARN IT.

Sasa nyinyi wakubwa mtuone mtupe kazi...bila kuitisha commission lakini...

And I know one day when I don't have to walk around giving posters, I will understand what my junior employees go through.

I just wanted to put this out here so someone like me will be encouraged and keep doing it. This is the best way to grow and get up there.

Alright, that's my story but please call me for that Website or system or if you need an accounting or payroll system. We will train you too, or just walk into our office and find a desk to work. Support us nanii!😊😊

Tells of the best of Women

Our very first Date I have known this woman for the past 7 years, I have dated her for the past two years and I have been married to her for the past one year, four months and thirteen day, ( don't be fooled, I sort the help of a calculator and minutes of thinking) If you would like to meet an incredible woman, you should absolutely meet her. If you want to meet a smart and beautiful woman, you need to meet my wife. If you want to meet a flawed woman, damn right, you should look for her. If you want to meet a loyal and loving woman, my Eve should be your next meet. Every additional year she gets becomes first a gracious gift to me then to her. Don't get me wrong, it's just that she takes care of me more than she takes care of herself. This is her second birthday we are celebrating in Kilifi. The first was just a week after we had moved here from Nairobi. We just had a small "Fayaz" cake (I didn't even put a sad face, it was a terrible cake) with our very ...

A CONTINUATION OF WHAT CHALLENGES EDUCATION IN OUR SOCIETY

Like I pointed out in my last post, there is a lot more that I would want to share on what challenges education in the Kilifi society. POVERTY Poverty is one of the biggest challenges that hinder education in our great County of Kilifi. After the free primary education was announced, almost every young man or woman who had dropped out of school rushed to join school again. Schooling had been made easy. No fee was required, no significant money to pay for anything. Primary education was truly free then. Several years down the line, primary education is no longer as free as it was even after being made a law that it would continue to be free almost forever. Today there are many expenses that pupils have to pay for if they are to remain in school. That's the primary education not even secondary. Poverty has therefore denied children access to education. These children come from extremely poor families(and that's the situation of very many families in Kilifi) which can with dif...
